Samsung may be doing a poor job as far as Android OS upgrades are concerned, but it’s certainly doing a great job when it comes to monthly security patches.
After rolling out the latest April 2018 security patch to the Galaxy J3 2017, Galaxy On5 Pro, Galaxy J7 2016, and even the entry-level Galaxy J2 Pro, Samsung has now started rolling out this month’s patches to the Galaxy A8, Galaxy A8 Plus and Galaxy J7 2017.

The Galaxy A8 2018 started getting the update a few days ago while the Galaxy A8 Plus, Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy J7 2017 have just joined the party. The updates are rolling out over the air, installing software versions given below for respective devices:
- Galaxy A8 – A530FXXU2ARD1
- Galaxy A8 Plus – A730FXXU2ARD1
- Galaxy A5 2017 – A520FXXU4BRD1
- Galaxy J7 2017 – J730GDXU3ARD1
All of the above handsets are yet to receive the coveted Oreo update treat from Samsung, but the update is seemingly confirmed and should arrive once Samsung is done rolling out Oreo for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
Besides installing the latest Android security patches, the updates also improve system stability, performance as well as fix various bugs and errors.
