Motorola One Zoom Android 10 update, security updates, and more: November update announced

The last couple of years haven’t been too kind on Motorola. Not only have they been neutralized in the higher-end of the spectrum, but they are also facing stiff competition in the mid-range segment. To remedy the situation, Motorola has refreshed its mid-range lineup with the Moto One devices, and Moto One Zoom is one of the company’s more premium offerings.

As the name suggests, the phone focuses on bringing flagship-level camera performance at a fraction of the cost. The device comes with a quad-camera setup, a Snapdragon 675 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a pretty respectable 4000 mAh battery. The Moto One Zoom runs a near-stock Android 9 Pie out of the box and will get updated to Android 10 in due time.

When will Motorola One Zoom get Android 10 update

  • Motorola One Zoom is eligible for Android 10
  • Stable version expected between December 2019 and January 2020
  • Android 10 soak test could begin in October

While the other Motorola Moto One series devices are part of the Android One program, the Moto One Zoom, quite disappointingly, is just another mid-range Motorola device running last year’s Android Pie. Many followers have been left furious with the company’s decision of launching the device with Android 9 Pie, especially because the device hit the shelves after Google’s Android 10 unveiling.

As the device is running near-stock Android, it shouldn’t take much time for Motorola to release the update. We expect Moto One Zoom to get Android 10 by January 2020.

Motorola One Zoom Android 10 Beta (soak test)

Traditionally, Motorola rolls out a beta update before releasing the final and stable build of an OS. And we expect the company to adhere to the tradition this year as well. The company is expected to announce the Android 10 soak test program sooner than later, asking enthusiasts to try out the pre-release build.

The first beta of Android 10 could be made available for the device by October 2019. If the results are encouraging, the stable version could go live within a month of the beta.
