Motorola announces Moto G6 Play Android Pie update in the U.S.

Motorola hasn’t been in the limelight recently; however, the company still offers some of the best budget devices in the U.S. Speaking of budget devices, Moto G6 Play users can now rejoice since the company has finally announced the Android 9 Pie update for the device in the U.S.

While this definitely is some exciting news, the company often seeds out the update a few days after its announcement for the update, therefore, the new update would be available for Moto G6 Play owners to download soon, just not right away.

The company has also released the changelog for this new Pie update for the device and there are definitely several new changes and improvements hence we do believe the user experience would be improved by a significant bit with the new update.

This new update will be accompanied by the latest April 1, 2019 security patch, which is a bonus. Of course, you would receive all the major Android 9 Pie features as expected.

Once the update is available users should begin receiving the update notification on their Moto G6 Play automatically; however, you could also check for the update manually via Settings > System > System updates > Download and install.

  1. Wait! What about the G6? No mention there? or is it just the G6 Play

  2. Ok, so it’s may 11th right now and STILL NO UPDATE!!! I keep seeing contradictory information within the Android soul and would like to know the following: which security patch am I supposed to get? One article says pie is coming with an April security patch for the, another says the March security patch has just been detailed, and then another TAS article it says the may security patch is coming but with no pie; all of this being detailed for the Moto G6 play. What am I supposed to think?! I just got the February patch!

    1. Motorola has a very weird rollout program. They may update the phone in one region to May security patch but may have bit updated the device in some regions to even March patch.
Right now, I can confirm that the May security patch is available in the US. One commentator has even given the software version of the May patch. Look nearby to your comment.
