Moto Z Play Nougat update set for release; clears WiFi authority with Android 7.0 software version

The Motorola Moto Z Play looks all set to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update pretty soon as the device just cleared the WiFi Authority today. Given the fact that Moto G4 and G4 Plus are running Android 7.0 now, along with Moto Z Droid in US, the Z play was always in line as the very next device to get the Nougat rollout.

We could be not more than a month away from the Moto Z Play Nougat release now, as per our experience with the updates clearing at WiFi agency and becoming available for the public as an OTA.

Earlier today, Motorola India by error announced the Nougat update for Moto M, but alter corrected that with some clarification, that what they meant was Moto G4 and G4 Plus.

We expect the Moto Z Play Nougat update to be released before the end of December 2016, and if not, then in first week of January 2017.

Motorola is working hard on its Android 7.0 update, and we hope the Android 7.1.1 build drops quickly for the likes of Moto G4 and Moto Z, with both Sony and Samsung looking to release the 7.1.1 updates pretty shortly.
