Moto Z Droid and Z Droid Force update: March security patch arrives as software version NCLS25.86-11-4-6-8 from Verizon

Update [March 25, 2017]: Verizon is pushing out a new update to the Moto Z Droid and Z Force Droid devices. The Marshmallow based update which is rolling out over-the-air, goes by build number NCLS25.86-11-4-6-8 and primarily installs the March security patch. Alongside that, the update also provides a more stable user experience through various bug fixes and other system enhancements.

Looks like Verizon and Motorola have trumped them all to Nougat. Reminds us of OG Moto X update, right? Anyway, it seems Android Nougat build is now released for the Verizon Moto Z Droid, and its cousin Moto Z Droid Force, with the build being NCL25.86-11.

It’s hardly surprising, as we knew the soak test was undergoing at for the Verizon Moto Z Droid Nougat update for long time now, and given that it’s almost a month since soak was started, the release was fully expected in mid-November. This also means that Moto G4 Android 7.0 update could go live anytime now too, as both devices began the soak test for Nougat at the same time.

We’re yet to see the update becoming official as software pages of both Motorola and Verizon (shows MCLS24.246-36-3 as latest, from September 21) have no mention of Android 7.0 Nougat update, and/or build NCL25.86-11. You can keep and eye on those pages to find the changelog yourself when it’s live, although we will be updating this post too.

The screenshot comes from the Reddit Wasney, who looks to be among the first to receive it. Unless he’s getting some hand-on time in a Verizon store os seomthing.

The Android 7.0 update notification is quick to highlight the two most popular features on Nougat, the Sprint-screen mode and quick app switching (our favorite!). But you simply cannot ignore the performance boost and stability Nougat brings, only improved again under the Android 7.1.1 update, which is what Z Droid users would be looking next to.
