Moto G7 Play already has a software update for U.S. users

Moto G7 Play-3

Motorola announced the Moto G7 series last month and started selling the standard model, Moto G7, in the U.S. a few weeks ago. The company is also expected to bring the Moto G7 Power and Moto G7 Play in the country, with the former set for a March 22nd release date while the latter will begin selling on April 5th.

Even before the Moto G7 Play arrives in the market, Motorola is already planning a 0-day software update for the handset that will bring about a couple or so goodies.

First is the new Android security patch for February 2019. Of course, by the time the Moto G7 Play arrives, April 2019 security patches will be here. That said, it would have made more sense to see Motorola planning for an update with March 2019 security patch and not the older one from last month.

Besides security patches, the update will also include bug fixes and improvements to the general system performance and stability. Being a 0-day update, it should also iron out any kinks from the original software in readiness for use.

To recall, the Moto G7 Play ships with a 5.7-inch 19:9 HD notched display screen, a Snapdragon 632 processor paired to 2GB RAM and 32GB of expandable storage, a 13MP + 8MP camera combo, and a 3000mAh battery.

In terms of software, the $200 G7 Play runs Android 9 Pie out of the box and further includes extras like a USB-C port, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, face unlock, and 10W rapid charging, among others.
