Moto E4 and E4 Plus release date, specs and rumors

The Motorola E series is the cheapest smartphones sold by the company and come with entry-level features. Now, these smartphones are due for an upgrade, and we’re here to tell you what you can expect from the upcoming Moto E4 and the Moto E4 Plus.

The new Moto E4 and E4 Plus are supposed to be announced very soon. There could also be a variant called the Moto E4 Power. We have heard several reports, rumors, and have also seen the device being listed on the FCC.

Moto E4 and E4 Plus Specs

Design

The new E4 and E4 Plus are most likely going to retain the same old design as the previous models in the E series. There’s going to be a lot of plastic, but that’s what we can expect from entry-level devices.

By the looks of the image on the top of the post, the E4 has thick bezels and no Home button. The design is very similar to the E3. Whereas, the E4 Plus has a Home button that most probably houses a fingerprint scanner. The bezels on the E4 Plus also appear to the thinner.

Display

The Moto E4 is supposed to feature a 5-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 854. Nope, not even a 720p display. However, the E4 Plus could feature a slightly larger display with HD resolution. Well, you cannot really expect much from an entry-level smartphone.

Hardware

Coming to the internal hardware, the phones will include decent processors, most likely from MediaTek. Leaked specs have told us that the E4 and E4 Plus may come with the MediaTek MT6737m processor, and feature up to 4GB of RAM, depending on the variant.

Storage wise, you can expect at least 16GB of internal storage, with support for microSD cards. That’s all we know about what to expect inside the new Moto E4 and E4 Plus.

Software

As per the leaks, the upcoming Moto E4 devices will run on Android 7.0 Nougat. The Nougat software would be available out of the box, and it will definitely feature some of Motorola’s unique features.

Of course, you can expect a very stock Android experience on these devices, which is a good thing.

Camera

Don’t expect a big improvement over last years Moto E3. Most likely, and as per leaked listings, the Moto E4 would feature similar cameras as last year. A 5MP rear camera, and a 2MP front camera.

The Moto E4 Plus could feature slightly better cameras, and by the looks of the leaked images, there could also be front facing flash.

Battery

Now this is where things get very interesting for the Moto E4 Plus. While the standard E4 is said to include a 2800 mAh battery, the E4 Plus has been rumored to have a massive 5000mAh battery.

Even the Moto E4 Power could feature this large 5000mAh battery, as per a recent listing on the FCC. So yes, you can expect very good battery life from the Moto E4 Plus and E4 Power.

Moto E4 and E4 Plus Release Date and Price

Since the devices have already appeared on various online certification sites such as the FCC and P3DN, you can expect Motorola to announce them soon.

As for the pricing, expect the Moto E4 to be priced similarly to the E3. The Moto E4 Plus could be priced slightly higher due to the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner, bigger display, and the battery.

  1. 4GB RAm is too much for a budget device!! Moto might change the game this time!!

  2. A fingerprint scanner on Moto E confirms the growing standard on the scanner becoming a norm across all devices. I still remember 2015 and the nexus Imprint. It was such a big deal and seemed so revolutionary. This is what makes android great. The variety and the adoption. BTW, 5000mAh battery? Gee that’s an overkill.

    1. Some people actually want that much battery especially if they like to read and travel a lot.I’m guessing this is targeted at them. The phone will ofc be very efficient due to its not-so-taxing processor .I know this is an old post XD just came here to check if the release date is mentioned as its written on the title 😀

  3. Huge improvements and they have stepped up their game a little bit with the upgrades most likely to step up in the segment and leave breathing space for the moto c
