Motorola just released the August security patch — Yes, now! Yes, that’s late! — to its Moto E 2nd Gen sets around the world. We’re already talking October security patch here, and one device on OnePlus X already has it.
So, August patch release in September looks a bit odd, but it’s usual business in Android scenario. Because of many devices to support, and even more updates to distribute, this is bound to happen.
We’re actually happy Motorola cares to updates its $120 costing devices with latest security patches, even though running late by month or two. You will be lost of you tried finding out what other devices in this range have any security update, let alone the August one. Yes.
But anyway, we hope Moto finds it easy to update its E2 to Nougat, but no guarantees really. But as regards unofficial update, it’s already available, both for the 3G and LTE variant, and CM14 and AOSP build. Find the CM14 download here.
Motorola has confirmed the Q4 Nougat release for its Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto Z Play, Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and Moto G Play.
