With the help of the guide below, you could easily root Marshmallow update on your Motorola X Force, the global edition of US-only Droid Turbo 2. All it takes to root your Moto X Force is flashing the SuperSU file using TWRP recovery.
For those who are new to this, we’ve laid out a quick guide below for help.
After finishing the guide given below, let your phone boot up and then look for the SuperSU app in the app drawer. If it’s there, it means your Moto X Force is now rooted.
To test, download any root checker app from the play store and run it. Provide SuperSU permissions when it asks. If it doesn’t asks for permission, then it means it is not rooted. Do the guide again.
Downloads
- SuperSU v2.65
- TWRP recovery (Alternate TWRP)
Here is what we’re gonna do with the above.
We are going to boot the device into recovery mode to access TWRP recovery and then flash the SuperSU 2.65 file to achieve root access.
Supported devices
- Motorola Moto X Force, codename kinzie, model no. XT1580
- Don’t try this on any other device whose model no. is different than the one mentioned above.
Warning!
Warranty may be void of your device if you follow the procedures given on this page. You only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.
Backup!
Backup important files stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below, so that in case something goes wrong you’ll have backup of all your important files.
Moto X Force Marshmallow Root
- Power off the device. Then wait for 4-5 seconds after screen goes off.
- Press and hold Volume down + Power button together (for about 2-3 seconds) to enter bootloader mode. You will see FASTBOOT written at top.
- Open that root6 folder and then left click on empty white space in the folder.
- Now, while holding shift key, right click on empty white space to get a pop-up as shown below.
- Now choose Open command window here option from that.

You will see a command window open up, with location directed to root6 folder.
fastboot devices
→ Upon this, you should get a serial no. with fastboot written after it. If you don’t get fastboot written on cmd window, then it means you need to reinstall adb and fastboot drivers, or change restart PC, or use original USB cable.
→ Because unlocking the bootloader will delete everything on device, you will need to transfer the SuperSU file again (step 4) and then boot into bootloader mode again.
fastboot boot twrp.img
(You have to use the recovery image’s filename in the above command, which in our case is twrp.img, from step 2. In case you want to install TWRP recovery permanently, then use the command fastboot flash recovery twrp.img and then run the above command too to boot into recovery mode directly.)
In TWRP, tap on Install, and then select the SuperSU file. Next, do the swipe action at bottom of the screen to flash the SuperSU file.
That’s it. Moto X force of yours on Marshmallow update is now rooted., all thanks to Chainfire’s SuperSU root tool.

Doesnt work completely bricked my x-force , did it EXACTLY as described as i have rooted lots of devices and it went into a boot-loop that despite erasing everything i couldn’t get it out of , eventually i had to download the marshmallow factory image and reflash the device from scratch , once i had got it going again i tried again , same result , i would seriously advise NOT to try this as at one point i nearly ended up taking it to a motorola service centre for repair , oh yeah and the TWRP version is upside down on the device which really doesn’t help matters 🙁 , i am going to have to wait for a better method.
