LG Optimus 2X (P990) Ice Cream Sandwich ROM leaked, marked as V28E_00

While LG has making some great phones like the Optimus G or the Nexus 4 lately, it hasn’t done anything to alleviate the annoyances of owners of LG’s previous devices, as they are still waiting for that major software update to the next Android version. The LG Optimus 2X, which has been promised an Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update, hasn’t received it even one year after Google released ICS, angering a lot of customers who bought LG’s first dual-core flagship device.

However, an Android 4.0 update for the South Korean Optimus 2X leaked in the past, showing that LG is working on the update, albeit slowly, and now an official Android 4.0 firmware has leaked for the international variant, dated November 9th and carrying version number V28E_00. Well, it hasn’t exactly leaked but is available on LG’s servers, and XDA Recognized Developer Stefan Gündhör has made an online tool called “P990-Leaker” that tries to find any publicly available ROM on LG’s servers and downloads them for the user.

The tool has a limit on how many users can successfully use it to find a ROM in a day, so many will probably have to await their chance before they are able to find an Android 4.0 ROM with the tool. As for flashing these leaked firmware, there are risks involved, but Stefan has made sure to include guides on how these firmware can be downloaded and installed.

Head to the source page to download the P990-Leaker tool, and to find all the instructions you need to be able to flash the leaked Android 4.0 firmware. Don’t forget to let us know how it works for you, and also keep praying that LG gets around to officially rolling out the update before the year ends.
