The South Korean tech giant LG has announced its latest curved display smartphone called LG G Flex 2 in India today for a pricing of Rs 55,000. The device will be made available for grabs from this month in Flamenco Red and Platinum Silver color options.
LG took the wraps off the G Flex 2 smartphone earlier this year at the CES 2015 tech show in Las Vegas. The handset is the first one to be launched with the latest Snapdragon 810 chipset with 64 bit octa core processor. This processor is aided by 2 GB of RAM and Adreno 430 graphic unit.
The G Flex 2 is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop and it is boasts of a 5.5 inch Full HD curved P-OLED display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a pixel density of 403 pixels per inch. The curved display of the handset has a curvature of 700 mm radius and its back is relatively sharper with a curvature of 650 mm radius.
The screen is claimed to be layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection that has 20 percent more toughness from its predecessor as it makes use of a chemical treatment technology called Dura-Guard glass. It is claimed that the device on the whole is 30 percent more durable than the original G Flex.
LG has given an improved Self Healing back to the G Flex 2 that can heal the scratches in just 10 seconds at normal room temperature, while the previous generation model took three minutes for this purpose.
When it comes to photography, the LG G Flex 2 boasts of a 13 MP main snapper with optical image stabilization OIS+, laser guided autofocus and dual LED two tone flash. At the front, there is a 2.1 MP front facing selfie shooter onboard. The handset arrives in 16 GB and 32 GB of storage options and they can be expanded further with the help of a micro SD card.
For connectivity, the LG G Flex 2 is given connectivity aspects including 4G LTE-A with tri- band carrier aggregation, Wi-Fi, HSPA+, Bluetooth Smart Ready, NFC, SlimPort, GPS, GLONASS and micro USB 2.0. There is a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery to energize the device with Fast Charging support that will refuel it up to 50 percent in 40 minutes. The software features include Gesture Shot, Gesture View and Glance View.
