The Huawei Honor 8 is receiving an OTA update in China with improvements to battery life on the device. As per the official changelog, the update aims to reduce power consumption for certain apps running in background on the device to improve battery life.

The update also brings latest Google security patches, but we’re not sure if it’s the September security patch or some other. However, we’re hopeful that the new security patch at-least fixes the BlueBorne security vulnerability which has put millions of Bluetooth enabled phones at risk.

The new Honor 8 update comes with firmware build B393 and is on the roll as we speak. If you haven’t received the update notification yet, head over to your device Settings and force check for the update manually.

Notably, Huawei confirmed Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Honor 8 Pro and Honor 6X at a press conference recently in India. The company didn’t mention Honor 8 Oreo update, but we’re pretty confident that the device will officially get Android 8.0 update sooner or later.
