How to Install TWRP and Root ZTE Axon 7

Update (Dec 10th, 2016): Official TWRP recovery build 3.0.2-0 now available for the ZTE Axon 7 (A2017U) now available. Download link updated.

With bootloader unlocking now supported on ZTE Axon 7, it isn’t surprising to see TWRP recovery landing on the device.

Only days after ZTE announced bootloader unlocking support to ZTE Axon 7 and Axon Pro, an unofficial build of TWRP recovery 3.0.2-0 is now available for the Axon 7. You can use it to get root via SuperSU zip, install custom ROMs, Xposed and various other MODs found on XDA.

This TWRP recovery is for the ZTE Axon 7 A2017U model number only. If you’ve an Axon 7 with different model, do not try to install this TWRP recovery build image.
