Huawei Y7 is now official, features 4000mAh battery, Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.1

Similar to Samsung, Huawei has a wide range of smartphones categorized into different series such as Mate series, P series, G series, Nova series and the entry-level Y series.

Last month, Huawei announced Huawei Y5 2017 and while just three days back they launched Huawei Y3 2017, today, the Chinese mobile giant is announced the Huawei Y7 smartphone. Both the devices fall in the entry-level devices and again similar to the Samsung J series, which has three devices in the J range Galaxy J3, Galaxy J5, and Galaxy J7.

Huawei Y7 is an elder sibling of Y5 2017 and Y3 2017, where Y7 is the top model while Y3 is the base model and, as is obvious, Y5 is the mid model. While Y3 comes with 5-inch FWVGA display and Y5 with 5-inch HD display, the brand new Y7 features 5.5-inch HD display with 2.5D glass.

Equipped with Octa-core CPU that runs at 1.4 GHz, the hardware specifications of Huawei Y7 are similar to the younger sibling Y5 2017, but slightly better than Y3 2017. Again, if you look at other hardware specs of the Y7, which is 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB), it is similar to Huawei Y5. Also, the smartphone lacks fingerprint sensor which we think is a must for almost every device now, but then again, Huawei Honor arm takes care of that with devices in 5 series.

But there are other areas such as battery where Y7 is much much better than its siblings. Y7 packs 4000 mAh battery which is almost double of Y3 2017. Similarly, Y7 is far ahead of its siblings in the camera segment. While the device features 12 MP rear camera with 1.25 μm pixel sensor and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), the front camera flaunts 8MP selfie camera.

Talking about software, the device runs on Android 7.0 and has its own latest Emotion UI 5.1 (EMUI) on top for further customization. Moreover, the device comes in three beautiful colors of Grey, Prestige Gold and Silver.

In short, we agree with the Huawei when they say the device is bigger, bolder and better.
