When it comes to smartphone naming, there are a few OEMs who tread on the unconventional path, but nothing can beat Huawei’s eccentric naming sense. Once upon a time there was a Huawei Y560, also known as Huawei Y5. And now the company has launched Huawei Y5 2017.
Huawei has quietly launched this entry-level smartphone with pretty decent design but its specs fail to impress. Boasting of curvy lines and textured body, it easily scores above its entry level contemporaries. The rear panel of Y5 2017 has been crafted with a unique CD pattern around the camera lens and the CNC (Computer Numeric Control) process at the bottom.
The Huawei Y5 2017 sports a 5-inch HD display and is just 8.45mm thin. Powered by 1.4GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor, the phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top. It packs in 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage.
On the imaging front, we find a 8MP rear camera with F2.0 aperture and dual flash while at the front there’s a 5MP selfie shooter. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh battery with 80% capacity retention rate even after 800 charges.
Huawei has listed the Y5 2017 on its website. However, other information like the price and availability have not been specified. But we do know that it will be shipped in four colors — Gold, Pink, Blue, White, Gray.
