Huawei shipped 73 million smartphones in first half of this year

As a mark of its success, Huawei has shipped 73.01 million smartphones in the first half of 2017. This is 20.6 percent more as compared to the same period last year, as per the company’s business results for the six-month period which was announced recently.

Huawei,  the leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider from China, also witnessed a surge in its revenues which jumped up to CNY283.1 billion during the January-June period. This again is an increase of 15 percent on year with an operating margin of 11 percent.

Richard Yu, CEO of the consumer business group said (as quoted by Digitimes):

Huawei’s consumer business group continued to deliver extraordinary growth, beating the industry average and penetrating high-end markets around the globe.

The consumer business group also saw revenues increase 36.2% on year to CNY105.4 billion (US$15.622 billion) in the first half of 2017.

Riding high on this success, Huawei is set to expand its retail network worldwide. The company plans to open more retail stores which should reach 56,000 by year-end 2017 compared to 35,000 in May 2016.
