As promised, Huawei has started to roll out the official Android 8.0 Oreo software update for the Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro. If you own any of these devices, then you should be seeing an update notification right about now.

In October, Huawei launched the Oreo beta program for these devices, and we have already seen screenshots of what the update looks like thanks to a leak. The update takes the software version to B334 and runs EMUI 8.0. The update is currently only available in China.

Do not worry if you’re not in China though, as the update will be available in other regions as well. That, however, could take some more time. The Oreo update is available for all the variants of the Mate 9, including the Porsche Design one.

With EMUI 8.0, users will get all the goodness of Oreo, plus some unique Huawei implemented features. You will find some AI related goodies, a new assistant, a Projection Desktop mode, and more. The update is being delivered over-the-air, so remember to connect your device to a stable Wi-Fi network, and keep it fully charged.
