After a series of leaks and speculations, the Huawei P8 flagship smartphone has been unveiled officially by the firm’s CEO. The new flagship boasts of an all metal frame and carries a 6.4 mm thick body.

The design of the Huawei P8 focuses on a modern and premium build and hence, it features a full metallic unibody build unlike metal and glass in the previous models. It is claimed that it takes around 810 minutes to craft this aluminum body of the smartphone featuring a special nano-coating that will make the flagship smartphone splashproof.

The Huawei P8 sports a 5.2 inch Full HD 1080p display and features narrow bezels to keep the device pretty compact. The device has a screen to body ratio of 78.3% at the front.

Notably, Huawei has introduced a unique way to allow you to interact with the display and it involves using your knuckles. Well, you can double tap or crop a part of the screen to grab a screenshot. Basically, such aspects were possible only with the use of a stylus.

The Huawei P8 draws power from a Kirin 935 chipset that is an octa core processor based on Cortex A53 architecture. The highlight of this processor is that it can deliver a great performance despite consuming too much of power. The 2,680 mAh battery in the device is claimed by the firm to last up to 2.3 days under normal usage and up to 1.5 days on intense usage.

The Huawei P8 boasts a 13 MP main snapper at its back and it is capable of capturing light in RGBW (red-green-blue-white) pattern. This feature will enable the snapper to capture quality snaps even in low light conditions.

The snapper features optical image stabilization and it can offset vibrations up to 1.6°, which is reportedly, double than the ability of iPhone 6 Plus. There is an independent image processor onboard that is claimed to be of DSLR quality and it is responsible of noise reduction, automatic scene recognition, advanced face recognition, better white balance and exposure.

Up front, the Huawei flagship smartphone makes use of an 8 MP front facing selfie snapper that can capture FHD 1080p videos.

Software wise, the Huawei P8 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop topped with Emotion 3.0 UI. The device uses Signal+ tech that features two antennas and it can switch between the two 33.5 microseconds for clear calls and data usage. The Wi-Fi+ feature will pick the best Wi-Fi signal automatically.

The P8 is a dual SIM device and the second SIM card slot can be used as a micro SD card slot when you need more storage space. Both the SIM cards support 4G LTE making it an impressive device.

Huawei has come up with a number of cases for the smartphone including the e-ink cover that adds a 4.3 inch screen that can be read even under sunlight.

Huawei P8 comes in two options in terms of storage and colors. The 16 GB model is priced at €500 and the 64 GB variant is priced at €600 respectively. The first regions that will receive this model are Middle East, South Africa and Europe.
