HTC might no longer be the force it was in the smartphone industry a few years ago, but the company still sells some awesome devices. And to make sure these devices remain to their best, the company has announced that it will be rolling out Android 9 Pie update to at least four of them.

This year’s HTC U12+ is leading the way and although not mentioned, it should receive the update to Android Pie before the end of this year. It will be closely followed by the 2017 trio of HTC U11+, U11 and U11 Life, but there’s a catch with respect to the latter.

In case you didn’t know, the HTC U11 Life has two variants – one has Android One-based Oreo OS out of the box and the other runs HTC’s Sense UI on top of Nougat. Apparently, it’s only the former that will be upgraded to Pie.

HTC 10 users will be disappointed at the omission of the 2016 flagship, especially considering that HTC doesn’t have so many devices to work on and the fact that the 10 is still a very capable device in the eyes of owners. Also, with OnePlus having confirmed Pie is coming to the 2016 OnePlus 3 and 3T, the least HTC would have done is do the same for the 10.
