Google launched the first developer preview of Android P back in March and at the I/O 2018, the search giant published the first public beta of the OS alongside the second developer preview.
Unlike before, Android P public beta is no longer limited to Google Pixels. Thanks to Project Treble, it’s now possible for other non-Google users to enjoy the public beta of Android P on their devices – and one such group is the one using one of the latest phones from HMD Global, the Nokia 7 Plus.
Launched as part of Android One, the major selling point of this handset – and other Nokia phones – is the power of timely software updates. Well, HMD is indeed living up to this promise as the Finnish company has now opened an Android P beta program for the Nokia 7 Plus.

How to install Android P beta on Nokia 7 Plus
Users of the Google Pixel and Pixel 2 have the easiest job when it comes to joining Android P public beta. And even though getting Android P beta on your Nokia 7 Plus is not as straightforward, it’s still easy to jump aboard the latest ship.

How to install:
- Make sure your Nokia 7 Plus has either model number TA-1046 or TA-1055, otherwise, it won’t work. To check this, go to Settings > System > About phone and you should see the model number under “Model.”
- Once you are sure your Nokia 7 Plus model is supported, go over to the Nokia developer page and enroll your phone into the program.
- HMD notes that the OTA update is still not available, but it has stipulated simple steps of installing Android P manually, all of which are accessible once you sign up your device into the program.
Whether subsequent updates will be rolled out over the air is still unknown, but this should be the case. Also, HMD has not mentioned a thing regarding the possibility of adding more devices to the beta program, but it’s likely that the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8 and/or even the Nokia 6 2018 might join the party at some point in the near future.
We’ll let you know if and when this happens. Stay tuned!
