How to Add Separate Toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Personal Hotspot, Airplane Mode, and VPN to iPhone’s Control Center in iOS 18.1

What to know

  • On iOS 18.1, you can add separate toggle controls in the Control Center for most connectivity options.
  • There are now standalone toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Personal Hotspot, Mobile Data, and VPN. However, separate AirDrop and Satellite options are still missing.
  • The new toggle controls are available in iOS 18.1, which is currently in its fifth developer beta. A full release is expected next month.

Ever since Apple made the Control Center more customizable, we’ve been crying out for a separate control for the different connectivity options. Up until recently, these were all grouped together in a single ‘Connectivity’ control in the Control Center. But looks like Apple’s finally heard us!

The upcoming iOS 18.1 update has new connectivity controls for all its connectivity options, like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Mobile data, Personal Hotspot, and VPN. So you can now break out of the traditional ‘Connectivity’ box control and customize the Control Center to your heart’s content.

How to add standalone connectivity controls to the Control Center in iOS 18.1

Here’s how you can add all the new standalone connectivity controls – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Personal Hotspot, Mobile Data, and VPN to the Control Center.

Requirements

The new toggles are part of iOS 18.1. As of writing, this update is in its fifth developer beta, which is where you’ll see these new connectivity toggles. If you’re not on the latest developer beta, iOS 18.1 will be available to you next month.

Text Guide

  1. Open the Control Center.
  2. Tap on the icon in the top left corner to create a new shortcut.
  3. Tap on Add a control at the bottom.
  4. Scroll down to the ‘Connectivity’ section. Here you’ll see all the standalone toggles that you can add to the Control Center.
  5. Tap on one to add it to the Control Center as a separate toggle.
  6. Change the size and position of the control to your liking.
  7. If you like, you can remove the ‘Connectivity’ box entirely.

Of these new standalone controls, Wi-Fi and VPN are the only two that cannot be added to the Lock Screen. Do also note that there are still no AirDrop and Satellite standalone controls. So there’s still room for improvement.
