The Honor Play is one of the best devices to get your hands on right now if you are looking for a budget gaming phone. Some may feel that it is slightly edged out by the Poco F1 because of the newer processor in the latter, but given the overall quality of the device compared to mediocre build of Xiaomi’s phone, we doubt that.
Honor launched its GPU Turbo feature with the Honor Play claiming to make it one of the best gaming devices out there for the price. The device packs in a Kirin 970 under-the-hood coupled with 4 GB RAM. The GPU Turbo feature, however, had many bugs and issues and didn’t work as expected. Luckily for you, Honor has now addressed this issue and has rolled out an update to fix the GPU Turbo feature on the Honor Play.
This update includes the AIS feature as well which is the Artifical Intelligence Stabilization that is found on the Huawei P20 Pro. The AIS feature is far superior to regular EIS as we’ve seen on the Huawei P20 Pro which has the best stabilization while recording video.

The new update version is COR-AL00 8.2.0.125 which is bumped up from the previous COR-AL00 8.2.0.120 version. This update also contains a few other fixes as well as brings along a fresh security patch to keep the device security up to date.
Since the update is being rolled out via OTA, it may take a few hours or even a day or two for the update to show up on your device. We suggest manually checking for the update once by heading over to Settings > System > System update and tapping Check for updates.
Not all bugs may have been fixed with the OTA, however, at least users can be worry-free as we know Honor is stepping up their game and actually working on giving users a smooth and bug-free experience on their Honor devices.
Android 9 Pie and EMUI 9.0
In China and Europe, the beta update with EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9 Pie is available already. Though, when it translates into stable release is yet to be seen, though Huawei had earlier confirmed that they plan to release the update on October 16.
