The Honor Play is one of the best to come from Huawei thanks to the value for money it offers. The Chinese company made the deal even sweeter when it announced that the device would be among the first to get Android 9 Pie and in fact, a beta version is already available for download.

By far one of the biggest changes that Android 9 Pie brings is the gesture-based navigation system that replaces the traditional buttons of Home, Back, and Recents. While the Honor Play is guaranteed to get this feature through the Pie update, Huawei has other ideas for those who haven’t decided to try the gesture controls in the Pie beta program.

An update with EMUI version 8.2.0.142 is now rolling out to the Honor Play and not only does it include support for WeChat fingerprint payments, but it also brings gesture controls to the device. To enable this feature, go to Settings > System > System navigation and toggle it on.

The update also includes fixes for issues with WLAN and further improvements to keep the system more stable and functioning. It’s an OTA update that has so far been confirmed for model number COR-AL00, a variant of the Honor Play that is sold in China, but the global model COR-AL10 should join the party sooner than later.
