A flurry of Huawei phones has been jumping aboard the ‘GPU Turbo technology’ ship, either via software updates like the Honor 7X or coming in with the gaming technology out of the box like the Honor Note 10. With the technology having been launched after the Honor 9 Lite went on sale, the only way it can find its way to this phone is via a software update – which is rolling out in India as of this writing.

Coming in as software version 8.0.0.187, the Honor 9 Lite update not only brings support for GPU Turbo technology on the device but also installs bug fixes to the call recording feature that came as part of the previous B185 update. This feature also arrived on the Honor 7A and Honor 7C handsets a while ago.

Since the introduction of the call recording feature, some users have reported issues using the feature when OK Google is enabled. Apparently, the latest update takes care of this issue and further optimizes the system for enhanced performance.

Honor says this update is rolling out in batches, which explains why some Honor 9 Lite users haven’t received the OTA notification while others are still getting the B185 update. The B185 update started rolling out a few weeks ago, but the latest B187 further includes new Android security patches as part of the Oreo-based update.
