Amid all the talks of Oreo release — which is quite natural — Samsung and Verizon are now pushing Nougat update for the Galaxy J3 V (2016), which is easily identified by model no. SM-J320V. The Nougat OTA carries the software version J320VVRU2BQJ1, and should be available on all devices over the next few weeks.
Besides giving the device a bump to Android 7.1.1, the update also fixes a few issues like Wi-Fi voice call drop, messaging app problem where only audio was sent in a video, while improving on performance of proximity sensor and quality of sound under Push To Talk+.
But it’s the Nougat update that’s a thing of joy here. In case you thought it’s ‘Oreo or nothing’ now a days when it comes to updates, well, know this: the Galaxy J3 devices with model no. SM-J320(x) are stuck on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and only Verizon’s set (SM-J320V) is seeing a day in Nougat. So, while other J3 2016 variants didn’t even receive Marshmallow, Verizon’s J3 V users are having fun with Android Nougat. That’s pretty good of Verizon, right? Even though Nougat was launched by Google some 13 months ago.
With Nougat update, you get better multitasking option, better battery life, nice battery management stuff, and a lot more. It’s a cool update, even though the focus is now on Android 8.0 update, speaking of which, Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus have received second Android 8.0 beta update now, and if you live in USA, you can install it on your S8 and S8+ too.
