We have some good news today for the owners of the Honor 9 and Honor V9, Huawei’s one of the best phones of their time. It seems like GPU Turbo is on its way as the company just started inviting beta testers to sign up for the upcoming update that will give them the much-coveted feature of late among the Huawei and Honor fans, the GPU Turbo.

Given that Huawei has already rolled out the GPU Turbo update for even the budget devices like Honor 9 Lite, Honor 7X, and Honor 9i, and also the Honor View 10, among other premium Huawei phones, it was about time they paid attention to that feeling of being left that the users of the Honor 9 and Honor V9 must be feeling now.

Granted, this is not as big a news as the rollout of Huawei’s Android 9 update beta 2 for P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10, mate 10 Pro, Mate RS, Honor 10 and other handsets, we’re sure Honor 9/V9 users will gladly take this.

In case you are not familiar with GPU Turbo, this is a technology developed by Huawei that should significantly increase graphics performance while consuming far less energy. Huawei has boasted that GPU Turbo can improve graphics processing efficiency by up to 60% while lowering overall power consumption levels by 30%.

Obviously, the first phones to get the update were Huawei’s flagships the P20 and P20 Pro, but the new technology will soon be available to some of the company’s older phones like the Honor 9 and Honor V9.

Well as you can see in the screenshot below, Huawei has announced the beta program, so that the interested owners of the V9 can test the GPU Turbo update before the official version goes out for the masses. Prospective participants are required to have the mobile version 8.0.09.351 installed on their device, which isn’t supposed to be rooted.
