Games Coming To Google Stadia in October, November and December 2020

Upcoming Stadia Games

With each passing day, the Stadia grows in strength and gives hope to those of us gamers stuck with laptops only slightly more powerful than a burlap sack of turnips. The game-streaming platform has, in the short time since its release, already started to amass a respectable library for itself with some big titles and even a few exclusives. And it’s only poised to get better.

From Cyberpunk 2077 to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, let’s take a look at all of the games officially slated for release by the end of the year.

These games arriving on Google Stadia in October 2020.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Official Announcement Trailer | Stadia
  • Developer: FromSoftware
  • Stadia Release Date: October 29, 2020
  • Original Release Date: March 22, 2019
  • Price: $59.99
  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Google Stadia

Sekiro takes everything you love about samurais and shinobi and everything you think you hate (but actually love with all your heart) about FromSoftware’s other games and blends them into one undeniable, unnerving goliath of a medieval Japanese slash fest that will have you pulling your hair out in a fit of bottomless rage one second and exclaiming in unfathomable ecstasy the next. Yeah, it’s an experience.

Players become the vengeful shinobi, Wolf, as he sets out on a path of destruction, hell-bent on delivering the samurai who kidnapped his lord to fiery retribution. He’ll use a combination of stealth, tactics, and gritty real-time combat to send them by the hundreds to the afterlife while dealing with an onslaught of insane bosses, all the while proving that the souls-like formula, though it may shave a few years off your life, is still worth playing over and over.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Watch Dogs: Legion - Gameplay Overview Trailer | Stadia
  • Developer: Ubisoft Toronto
  • Stadia Release Date: October 29, 2020
  • Original Release Date: October 29, 2020
  • Price: $59.99
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows

The latest Watchdogs installment is a stylish and utterly unique action-adventure game that feels like a mixture of Mr. Robot, a Guy Ritchie film, and Mission Impossible with tiny amounts of Hitman and Deus Ex sprinkled in. We did use the word unique. The game takes place in near-future London in the wake of a catastrophic terrorist attack.

Private security firm Albion (which has nothing to do with Fable or Albion Online) is given authority over-policing and, predictably, uses the terrorist threat as an excuse to go full 1984 crackdown on everybody. As the player, your job is to recruit citizens, many of which are ordinary, everyday folks (though there is, of course, the occasional John Wick style assassin or similarly extraordinary archetype) to do whatever it takes to liberate London, one neighborhood at a time.

Cake Bash

Cake Bash - Official Announcement Trailer | Stadia
  • Developer: High Tea Frog
  • Stadia Release Date: 15 October 2020
  • Original Release Date: 15 October 2020
  • Price: TBA
  • Platforms: Windows, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch

Something like Super Smash Bros meets Fall Guys meets your local bakery, Cake Bash is an adorable and lighthearted online party game that chooses to personify the sugary treats that are the bane of your defunct weighing scale’s existence. The game takes place in a variety of environments, from outdoor cafe tables to baking pans and kitchen counters, with each one bringing its own unique games and hazards to contend with. Aside from straight brawling, Cake Bash gives players a handful of other high-glycemic-index mini-games to chew on and is a great choice for anybody who wants something to bring out the laughs with their friends.

November 2020

Come November, Stadia will let you play these games, too.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Assassin
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Stadia Release Date: November 17, 2020
  • Original Release Date: November 17, 2020
  • Price: $59.99
  • Platforms:  PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla shows that sometimes the most foolproof way to “assassinate” somebody is to bring an entire army of Vikings to reduce whole kingdoms to a smoking ruin. Indeed, this time around the series is less like Hitman and more like third-person Mordhau as players lead their Viking warbands across England like a tidal wave of blood and Scandinavian steel, toppling strongholds and trying to get back from the English the guy you just really want to see crowned King.

It’s kind of hilarious that the series that at one point epitomized the stealthy assassination game went full Viking, but it’s also kind of awesome.

Anybody who misses the OG jRPG games of old would be remiss to skip out on Modus’ latest creation.

The latest and largest installment in the longstanding series marks the end of its run on the Wii and the first time players will have to make due with either a console mo-cap device or the smartphone app exclusively to dance to the beat of their favorite songs. The good news is that 2021 will have over 550 songs to bust out the moves to and help convince yourself that your appalling eating habits are justified.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising

Immortals Fenyx Rising - World Premiere Trailer | Stadia
  • Developer: Ubisoft Quebec
  • Stadia Release Date: 03 December 2020
  • Original Release Date: 03 December 2020
  • Price: $60
  • Platforms: Windows, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna

Immortals: Fenyx Rising, formerly known as Gods and Monsters, is the game of choice for anybody looking for a new ARPG with a heavy dose of Greek mythology. The game is centered around the titular Fenyx, a greek soldier who finds themselves stranded on the Golden Isle, a richly saturated island landscape populated by a diverse array of mythical figures, both friendly and decidedly unfriendly. The game looks set to play out like Titan Quest meets Breath of the Wild, so anybody in search of another high-velocity open-world RPG to tide them over until BOTW 2 ever comes out may find a home in Immortals: Fenyx Rising.

Chronos: Before the Ashes

Chronos: Before the Ashes - Stadia Announcement Trailer
  • Developer: Gunfire Games
  • Stadia Release Date: 01 December 2020
  • Original Release Date: 01 December 2020
  • Price: $29.99
  • Platforms: Windows, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia

Chronos: Before the Ashes, a game so creative and forward-thinking, it may take years to understand the intended purpose of its bizarre trailer. Despite said trailer’s questionable choice of an 80’s aesthetic and cutesy retro-vibe, Chronos: Before the Ashes is actually an innovative souls-like set to employ the unique aging system that Chronicles of Elyria promised players while stealing the money of well-meaning MMORPG fans. Yes, in Chronos: Before the Ashes, game deaths reduce your characters already limited lifespan by a year, hastening the rate at which your initially youthful and quick character ages and grows decrepit — forcing them to resort to magic more than pure might to solve problems.

Late 2020 (Date not confirmed)

Before the year ends, you will be able to play these games on Google’s streaming service.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 -
  • Developer: CD Projekt Red
  • Stadia Release Date: 2020
  • Original Release Date: November 19, 2020
  • Price: $59.99
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows

Cyberpunk 2077 is shaping up to be the big daddy of gaming this year, with so many millions of gamers just chomping at the bit for a piece of CD Projekt RED’s first foray outside the borders of the Witcher universe. The legendary developers have taken the same open-world ARPG structure that the Witcher games helped define and applies it to a, well, cyberpunk setting. And to great effect.

The game follows cybernetically-enhanced outlaw, V, as they chase after an implant that supposedly grants its bearer immortality. Players will revel in the bustling, crime-ridden megalopolis that is the centerpiece of the game, Night City, replete with numerous competing factions, quests, and other exquisitely detailed windows into the rich world of Cyberpunk 2077. Brace yourselves — literally, everyone needs to get ready for the nuclear drop coming this November.

El Hijo – A Wild West Tale

El Hijo - A Wild West Tale - Official Announcement Trailer | Stadia
  • Developer: Honig Studios
  • Stadia Release Date: 2020
  • Original Release Date: TBA
  • Price: TBA
  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, macOS

Think Red Dead Redemption but… Disneyfied. No, it’s not as bad as it sounds. In fact, El Hijo might be just the game for those who have grown tired of the inescapable violence that has become the center of the vast majority of games today. The game follows the titular Hijo, a 6-year-old traveling the turbulent American West back when six-shooters and boot spurs were as common as table salt, searching for his mother.

Where other games employ copious violence and bloodshed, El Hijo makes a point to lean on quick thinking and fleet feet instead. Anybody who wants to see a broader spectrum of problem-solving skills beyond “poke it till it dies” should definitely give El Hijo a whirl as soon as it’s out.
