Back at Google I/O 2017, the search engine giant announced a new feature called ‘Google Play Protect’. Although it has been quite a while since this feature was announced, not a lot of people are well versed with what it is. Well, if you are one of those, the Google Play Protect is kind of an evolution of the “verify apps” feature that has existed on your Android phone and tablet for long time now. It is sort of like a real-time malware scanner that scans all your installed apps, etc. and protects your device against such threats.
After the announcement, Google made this feature available from July onwards for all devices with Google Mobile Services 11. So if you are running an updated version of Android, then you should be having it on your smartphone as well.
However, even if you didn’t have it already on your device — check the Play Store app for this — then you will be glad to know that Android team just announced that the ‘Google Play Protect’ is now available for all Android devices. This is a huge milestone, considering the fact that the feature was announced only in May at Google I/O, and that there is a remarkably large portfolio of Android devices out there.

In order to check if you’ve got Google Play Protect on your Android device or not, simply head over to Settings -> Google -> Security -> Google Play Protect and check which apps were scanned. You can also find an option to enable/ disable the service on the same screen.
With that said, be sure to check if your device is secured with this feature or not. If not then be sure to let us know which device you are using and also the version of Android installed on your device.
