Google has pushed an update to Google Play Books in the Play Store that brings along a lot of new features. You can now highlight text in books, translate the selected text, add a note to it, or look up a highlighted word in the dictionary. Also new is the Places info card, which shows you a map and a snippet of info from Wikipedia if the selected text is a place.
The update also fixes a bug that causes the app to crash at launch on certain devices, including the HTC Wildfire. If you regularly read books on your Android device with Play Books, these new features should come in very handy, like the dictionary feature for looking up the meaning of a word without leaving the app.
