Google Pixel 2 devices codenamed Walleye and Muskie, says new rumor

A new rumor has surfaced online that reports that the next generation Pixel smartphones from Google would be codenamed ‘Walleye‘ and ‘Muskie.’ Once again, these names refer to North American freshwater fish, similar to the codenames of the Pixel and Pixel XL.

We do not know a lot about the upcoming Pixel 2 devices from Google. However, it has been confirmed by Google that they will be premium and would be announced around October this year.

Nothing is known in the hardware department, but we can expect better build with IP68 water resistance, smaller bezels, Snapdragon 835 processor, and improvements to camera. Rumors have also mentioned that the Pixel 2 could lack the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The codenames appeared on the Android Open Source Project gerrit, however, only Walleye was found. This seems to be the smaller of the two Pixel 2 smartphones. Last year, the codenames for the current Pixel devices were also discovered via the AOSP gerrit, so this is pretty much accurate.
