What to know
- Google Photos is preparing a dedicated “RAW images” search category.
- Finding RAW photos is already possible; the addition gives that capability a named category.
- Google Photos 8.0.0.1011730683 includes the category label, a “RAW image” query, and RAW-specific empty-state messages.
Finding RAW photos in Google Photos is already a publicly documented capability. Our teardown of Google Photos 8.0.0.1011730683 uncovered resources for a dedicated search category, giving photos already in your library a clearer place in search.
A dedicated category for RAW photos
The search resources pair the category label “RAW images” with the query “RAW image.” Together, they describe a named search category for finding your RAW shots.
The results page also gets its own empty-state title and caption. The four additions connect the category, its query, and the explanation shown when there are no RAW results:
The caption makes the scope clear: this category is for RAW photos already stored in your library. The discovery is the dedicated category and its accompanying search text, rather than RAW retrieval itself.
For you, a dedicated RAW category would make an existing capability easier to find when you want to pull up those photos.
