Google is rolling out its Veo 2 video generation model to a wider group of Gemini Advanced users. This update follows a recent announcement and brings the ability to create short, detailed videos directly from text prompts within the Gemini app on Android, iOS, and the web. If you have access, you will see a new option labeled "Veo 2: Generate videos from text" in the model dropdown menu.

To use Veo 2, you simply describe the scene you want to see. The more details you provide, the better the resulting video. After submitting your prompt, the system takes about one to two minutes to generate an eight-second video clip in landscape (16:9) format and 720p resolution. The video is delivered as an MP4 file, which you can download to your device. Gemini also offers a link-based sharing feature for easy distribution.

There is a monthly cap on the number of videos you can generate. Gemini will notify you as you approach your limit. Example prompts include descriptions like "a small puppy running through a garden filled with thick snow in the early morning sun" or "a kitten being introduced to the beach, specifically near the water, and then getting surprised as a wave crashes nearby." The model is designed to handle a wide range of topics and styles, producing smooth movements and realistic scenes with rich detail.

Currently, Veo 2 is available only to paid Gemini Advanced subscribers, and the rollout is not yet complete worldwide. The feature joins other creative tools in Gemini, such as Imagen 3 for image generation and Audio Overviews for podcast-style summaries. Google has also updated the design of the model picker on gemini.google.com to match the mobile app, making it easier to see which model you are using.

Veo 2's integration into Gemini Advanced reflects Google's ongoing efforts to enhance its AI-powered creative tools, offering users more ways to generate and share multimedia content directly from their ideas.
