How to Get and Evolve Frieren in Anime Expeditions

If you’re playing before the July 17, 2026 public launch, you need EA+ access first. Once you’re in, Frieren’s route is an early-account grind: build summon currency, pull the correct Mythic, clear her unit trial, then finish the Sprite material farm.

Frieren is Elf Mage in Anime Expeditions

The unit players are calling Frieren appears in-game as Elf Mage. Her evolved form is Elf Mage (Unleashed), so those are the names to look for on banners, in the unit menu, and on the evolution screen.

She is a Mythic magic unit, and the real chase is the evolved version. Base Elf Mage can get you into the evolution route, but Elf Mage (Unleashed) is where her Arcane Charge follow-up kit opens up.

Requirements before evolving Elf Mage

The clean order is base unit, trial clear, Sprite conversion, then evolution. Farming materials early is fine, but Cosmic Magic is the gate that comes from Elf Mage’s own trial.

How to summon and evolve Elf Mage in Anime Expeditions

This route starts from a fresh account flow, builds enough summons for the banner, then turns base Elf Mage into Elf Mage (Unleashed).

Pick a starter unit

Choose your starter and enter the lobby so the Beginner Path can start tracking early quests.

Start the Beginner Path

Follow the Beginner Path objectives because they push you into summons, story clears, XP feeding, and ticket rewards.

Summon 10 units

Use the early gems on the banner objective, then turn on autosell or clear inventory space if your unit box fills.

Clear School Grounds Act 1

Finish Act 1 to move the Beginner Path forward and unlock more early rewards from quests and stage clears.

Watch the banner rotation

Check the active banner before spending because Elf Mage should be targeted only when her portrait is visible.

Claim beginner tickets

Finish the XP-feeding Beginner Path task to collect the 25 beginner tickets from the early reward track.

Claim index gems

Open the unit and enemy indexes and claim available rewards, including 250 gems from the unit index.

Redeem launch codes

Use the launch codes EA+, EA, and RELEASE for 2,500 Gems each while they are active.

Use base Elf Mage, Cosmic Magic, and the 20 crafted materials to evolve her into Elf Mage (Unleashed).

The Elf Mage unit trial gives Elf Mage bonus damage, so place her early instead of trying to brute-force the map with unrelated units. The trial setup allows three Elf Mage placements, and her multi-hit helps with shielded enemies as long as the path is covered.

Open with farms if the early waves are under control, then add support around the kill zone. The trial team can use slow, freeze, and a magic-unit buff, which gives Elf Mage more time to attack while your income catches up.

Leaks are the main threat before the boss. If gargoyles or other fast enemies slip by the first placement, put another Elf Mage farther along the route instead of over-upgrading one spot too early.

The boss arrives with about 100,000 HP and regen. By then, you want your damage clustered where support effects overlap, because the boss can punish a loose setup even when the normal waves looked comfortable.

Elf Mage (Unleashed) passive and damage

Elf Mage (Unleashed) is built around Arcane Charge. On attack, she gains one charge, up to a max of seven, and charge thresholds trigger follow-up magic in different AoE shapes.

Her evolved placement count stayed at three in the launch-window showcase. One leveled evolved build displayed about 4,000 damage every 8.2 seconds, but launch balance can move quickly, so judge her more by the follow-up chain than by one early DPS number.

That also keeps the meta claim grounded. Yuta is still part of the early Mythic conversation, while Elf Mage’s value is her magic coverage and repeated AoE follow-ups after evolution.

Frieren chase mistakes that waste gems

The first mistake is searching menus for Frieren and thinking the unit is missing. Use Elf Mage for roster checks and Elf Mage (Unleashed) for the evolution target.

The second mistake is treating Mythic pity like a direct selector. The 50-pull Mythic pity gets you a Mythic, not necessarily Elf Mage, so spending into the wrong rotation can leave you with a different Mythic and no evolution route started.

Do not skip the small launch rewards while trying to brute-force summons. Index claims, Beginner Path tickets, story gems, and launch codes are exactly the kind of quick currency that can make the difference before a banner changes.

Be careful with trait rerolls once Elf Mage drops. Rolling off strong traits such as Draconic or Forsaken while chasing Unbound can burn through crystals fast, and ending on a weak trait leaves the evolved unit feeling worse than it should.
