The pre-order period for Galaxy S8 64GB and S8+ 128GB has been extended for another 30 days owing to the fact that these have gone out of stock in Korea. Samsung was about to put up the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on sale in the country starting April 24th. But this may not happen as the pre-order period has been extended.
Samsung opened pre-orders for Galaxy S8 and S8+ from April 7th to April 17th. It also announced 400,000 won worth of gifts including Bluetooth speakers to pre-order customers. During this period the pre-orders crossed the 1 million mark, registering a new record for Samsung’s smartphones.
But it seems Samsung is not prepared enough to meet the overwhelming demand and has therefore extended the pre-order period, at the same time stretching the date of availability to the end of this month. Also, as a result of the supply shortage, it is likely that there might be a delay in delivering the Galaxy S8 series devices to some pre-order customers.

This is not the first time we are hearing about Samsung’s inability to meet the Galaxy S8 series demand. Earlier, The Investor quoted an official from a local mobile carrier as saying:
The registration is being delayed as some of the preorder customers did not receive their top-of-the-line 6GB RAM Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones with 128GB of memory.
If Samsung wishes to cash in on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ inspired awe and admiration, it needs to maintain a smooth supply of these devices, irrespective of the demand. Any slack attitude here will prove beneficial to its competitors who are heavily marketing their released flagship devices.

I totally agree with the last paragraph. Samsung needs to keep up with the demand!
Obviously the demand is way more than what they expected XD the preorder records from the previous years have been broken 🙂 I’m assuming they’re trying their best !
Amazing!! they received that many orders that even the stock ran out, samsung is in for a Huge profit in Korean market!!
They always have 😀 Samsung is not only a phone manufacturer in Korea but also is into construction and also hospitals and many other things! So that gives a good image and also a lot of trust to the people which leads them to buy from the Tech giant!

That’s insane! I’m happy for Samsung. After all those thunderstorms and hurricanes they went through with Note 7, in the end, they finally get to see the rainbows behind them all. Super proud!

This is a problem that seems to plague every major smartphone release by every manufacturer. Supply needs to meet demand. I have expressed my concerns about this in one of the previous articles a week ago and I am hating to be proved right. :/
