Android 8.1 Oreo rolling for the Galaxy J7 Pop (or Prime or 2017) in the U.S.

Galaxy J7 Prime Oreo

We just caught wind of the Android 8.1 Oreo rollout for the Galaxy J7 Pop users in the US. The OTA carrying the Oreo build is already seeding out for the US Cellular users. We think other carriers — T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, and even the unlocked model — will join the party soon.

Coming in as build number J727R4TYU1BRH5, the update brings home Android 8.1 OS, skipping the Android 8.0 in the process, something the unlucky Galaxy J5 Prime users got stuck with.

A changelog for the update is not available at the moment, but you are going to see the Samsung Experience 9.0 UI on your Galaxy J7 Pop, a massive upgrade over the previous version of Samsung’s skin you may have right now.

Of course, you also get Oreo goodies like picture-in-picture, notification dots, revamped notifications center and settings app, notification snooze, Autofill, etc. stuff on your Galaxy J7 Pop.

To check for the update, open the Settings app on your Galaxy J7 Pop and locate the ‘system update’ menu. Now check for an update from here. In case it is not available at the moment, check again later.
