Samsung finally released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge earlier this week for the International G920F and G925F variants of the device. If you haven’t received the update yet, grab the full flashable firmware from here and simply install/flash using Odin.

For those of you into the rooting/customizing scene, you’d be disappointed to know that the current TWRP recovery builds available over at the TeamWin’s official website, aren’t compatible with S6 Marshmallow update.

TWRP recovery needs to be modified for the updated bootloader on the S6 Marshmallow update. And while TeamWin hasn’t taken notice of the issue yet, developer forumber2 over at xda has just released an unofficial TWRP 2.8.7.2 build for the Galaxy S6 G920F variant that’s compatible with the latest bootloader from Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update.

Since this is unofficial, this modified TWRP build has the following bugs:

  • Vibration doesn’t work.
  • MTP doesn’t work and might also cause ADB failure. So make sure you disable MTP feature.

You can grab the Galaxy S6 G920F Marshmallow compatible TWRP recovery from the link below and simply install it using Odin.

For help installing TWRP using Odin, follow our detailed step-by-step guide at the link below:

We’ll update the download link once official builds of TWRP 3.0.0 is available for Galaxy S6 Marshmallow running devices. Stay tuned..

Oh and don’t forget to say thanks to forumber2 for the modified/unofficial Galaxy S6 Marshmallow TWRP recovery build. You can find his original post over at XDA.

Happy Androiding!
