It’s being reported by several Nexus 6P users that upon installing the Android N beta update, the device fails to reboot normally after that. Well, here’s fix to unbrick any nexus 6P, whether tat’s caused by OTA installation or any other reason.
The bug has been acknowledged by the Android Team too as Issue 210381, as it’s been already assigned and being looked into. Various users reported that after downloading and installing the OTA update of N, the device gets stuck at bootloader screen when restarting. For some very unlucky users, even the Factory Reset and Cache Wipe isn’t helping.
If you own a Nexus 6P and are stuck while installing the latest OTA update, then here’s how to fix your Nexus 6P.
Solution 1: Try Factory Reset
It’s simple, and if it works, then you don’t need Solution 2, which should work in every case, but is pretty lengthy process. To factory reset the device, first power off your Nexus 6P and then when the screen goes off, press and hold Volume Down + Power until you see anything on screen.
You will be in fastboot mode in a matter of seconds. Now, use Volume buttons to bring up Recovery option, and then press power button to select it.
When in recovery mode, select the option Wipe data/factory reset, confirm it on next screen, and then wait for it to finish. Once done, select the option ‘reboot system now’. The device should restart alright now. If not, do Solution 2 below.
Solution 2: Install Marshmallow firmware
Download the firmware for your Nexus 6P (codename Angler) from here. Then follow the guide below.
- Power off the device.
- Press and hold both Volume Down and Power button together until you see anything on screen. Fastboot should be written at top.
- If you’re in Linux or Mac, use this command in terminal: sh ./flash-all.sh
That’s it. Once all files installed, your Nexus device will have the MRA58K build running.
