Curator Lyra runs one of the longer side-chains in The Deep, and her Data Capsule hunt sends you scanning across three separate zones before she pays out. The part that trips people up is that it isn’t one big collection — the quest hands out in three parts, so you’ll swim back to her twice before the final trip. Below is every capsule slot grouped by stage, plus the route through each area and the reward waiting at the end.

Key In-game the capsules don’t carry individual names or map pins, so we’ve grouped them by the three zones and quest stages the hunt actually follows. Each stage is four capsules, always in the same zone, and the order you scan them within a zone doesn’t matter — only that you clear all four before checking back in.
Starting Curator Lyra’s Data Capsule quest
Head to Curator Lyra in The Deep and talk to her to pick up the first quest. She splits the hunt into three parts rather than one long collection, so expect to report back to her more than once as you go.
Her name tag sits above her in the hub, and she’s the only NPC you need for the whole chain.
Turn in each batch of four before moving on — you can’t stockpile all 12 at once, so head back to Curator Lyra after the Outer Deep set and again after the Lower Deep set to open up the next zone.
Reaching the first Outer Deep Data Capsule
Accept the first quest from Lyra
Talk to Curator Lyra in The Deep until she asks for four Data Capsules in the Outer Deep.
Drop into the Outer Deep
Swim down into the Outer Deep layer and watch for the on-screen “Outer Deep” marker so you know you’re in the right zone.
Scan the first Data Capsule
Reach the early Outer Deep landmark, look for the glowing “Data Capsule” prompt, and interact to scan it.
Collect the other three nearby
Sweep the rest of the Outer Deep for the remaining three capsules before you head back.
The first prompt appears not far into the zone, so you don’t need to push deep to find it.
Sweeping the Lower Deep Data Capsules
The second batch only opens after you turn the Outer Deep four in to Curator Lyra. Talk to her again once your first set is complete and she hands over the next objective, which moves the hunt down into the Lower Deep.
Turn in the Outer Deep batch
Return to Curator Lyra with all four capsules and talk to her to receive the second quest.
Head into the Lower Deep
Travel down to the Lower Deep and confirm the “Lower Deep” location marker on screen.
Scan the next four capsules
Work through the Lower Deep and interact with each Data Capsule prompt as you find it.
Regroup before the third stage
Once all four are logged, keep your bearings — you’ll head back to Lyra one more time.
The Lower Deep is darker and more open than the Outer Deep, so give yourself time to spot every prompt before you assume you’ve cleared the zone.
Finishing at the Gloomy Crevice
Return to Curator Lyra with the Lower Deep four and she gives you the final part of the quest. This last batch isn’t straight down like the first two — the Gloomy Crevice sits on the other side of the temple, so you’ll cross the map before you descend.

Return to Curator Lyra with the Lower Deep four and talk to her to unlock the final stage.
Cross to the other side of the temple
Make your way across the temple to reach the gloomy side of the map.
Descend toward Gloomy Crevice
Head down toward the Gloomy Crevice, watching for its on-screen location marker.
Scan the last four capsules
Search the crevice and the surrounding Deep pockets to collect the final four Data Capsules.
Because this stage starts on the far side of the temple, it’s worth crossing fully before you start scanning so you don’t burn time doubling back.
Claiming the Ancient Relic Bobber
With all 12 scanned, make one last trip back to Curator Lyra and talk to her to close out the questline. Completing all three parts pays out the Ancient Relic Bobber — the reward that makes the whole hunt worth it.
Mistakes that stall the Data Capsule hunt
The most common one is stopping after the first reward. Lyra pays out along the way, and plenty of players assume the first hand-in finished the quest and never push to stage 3, so they never reach the Gloomy Crevice or the Ancient Relic Bobber.
The second is searching the deeper zones too early. The Lower Deep and Gloomy Crevice capsules only matter once their stage is active, so hunting them before Lyra asks just wastes time — the objective isn’t tracking them yet, and you’ll cover the same ground twice.
The last is naming. Some players expect an item literally called a battery and swim right past the correct prompts, so trust the on-screen “Data Capsule” label and scan anything that shows it.
