Essential Phone release date: US to get in June

Essential Phone - Front and Back

Update [May 31, 2017]: Essential CEO, Andy Rubin, announced onstage that his company will begin shipping the Essential Phone within the next 30 days. That means folks in the US would be getting the device in June. As for EP’s availability in other countries, the company hasn’t shared any details yet.

Without a doubt, the Essential Phone is the biggest launch of 2017 after the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and HTC U11. Sure, We have had Gionee S10, Xiaomi Mi6, etc., and have Honor 9, Oppo R11, etc. lined up for release in next few days and weeks, but none can match the sheer limelight that Essential Phone generates right now — and it’s packing in so much new stuff, that even the fact that its the mind-baby of the same man who created Android in the first place isn’t the only reason we’re so excited about the Essential Phone.

So, when does the Essential Phone launches in your country? You might be wondering.

Well, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Essential have confirmed that their Essential Phone is a US-only affair at the moment.

Essential was smart enough to come up with an answer for this already, and they have confirmed that right now, from May 30, only US residents can reserve the phone. They do have international launch planned for the Essential Phone, which will be announced at a later date.

There isn’t a specific mention of any country or continent, but it’s only fair to assume that UK would be first country outside of USA to have phone launch at, while other countries in Europe get one pretty soon too.

As regards Asia, where India and China are big markets too, chances of a new company like Essential selling its phones diectly are pretty slim — although far from impossible, as OnePlus has shown.

Because of the great full-screen display the Essential Phone features on its front, it’s able to pack in one odd 5.7-inch display inside a body, that — be prepared to be surprise! — measures lesser than the 5-inch Pixel’s body. Impressive, right?
