QUICK ANSWER
Season 14 reworked Pandemonium Ruptures and now guarantees at least one Superior Lair Key from every high-Torment Deathtoll Chamber, so the best farm is chaining Ruptures into Deathtoll Chambers and spending those keys on the Corrupted Reaper’s Hoard and the Nemesis Lair loop for Mythics.

Season 14, Season of Death Awakening, quietly turned Superior Lair Keys from a random invasion drop into something you can farm on a timer, and it rebuilt how Mythic Uniques drop. If you were still grinding old boss routes hoping a Mythic falls out, most of that is now the slow way. Here’s what actually changed and where the loot is.

What Season 14 changed about farming loot

The single biggest line: Deathtoll Chambers now always reward at least one Superior Lair Key at high Torment, and sometimes two or more. Before this, you only got Superior Lair Keys by spamming Lair bosses and hoping to get invaded by a boss that dropped a random one-to-nine keys — pure luck. Now there’s a target farm.

Pandemonium Ruptures were also reworked: they spawn more often, drift around the zone, pack in more elites, and are easier on Normal, with better payouts from both the Ruptures and the linked Realmwalker encounters. And a nasty bug got fixed — certain sources, including Lair bosses, were blocked from dropping their Uniques as Mythics. That’s gone, so if you target-farm a specific Lair boss for its Unique, it can now drop as a Mythic version directly instead of you fishing for a random one elsewhere.

Crafting got friendlier too. The Horadric Cube Mythic recipe now costs 4 Pandemonium Fragments instead of 5, and the seasonal reputation caches, Glints of Hope, now drop Pandemonium Fragments every single time. Crafted Mythics can roll with greater affixes, so more crafts means more chances at the exact multipliers you want. Every Unique also drops with two guaranteed affixes now, Mythics can be enchanted, and any affix you add through Enchanting, Transfiguration, or Tempering lands at its maximum value on a Mythic. One catch to remember: you cannot feed a Mythic into the “Upgrade to Mythic” recipe as the input item.

On top of that, resource caps jumped hard — Obols went from 2,500 to 25,000, the gold cap is now 999 billion, and gems cap at 999 million. Hell Tide seasonal quests also stopped tracking chests opened and now ask for a flat Cinder spend, which changes how you route them.

Where to farm Superior Lair Keys now

Everything funnels through Deathtoll Chambers, and there are three reliable ways to open them. Run them in this priority and you’ll never sit idle waiting on a timer.

STEP 1/4

Realmwalker run

Activate the three altars, kill the Realmwalker, and clear the Deathtoll Chamber it drops for a guaranteed Superior Lair Key — available roughly every 20 minutes.

STEP 2/4

Nightmare Dungeon ruptures

Between Realmwalkers, open Nightmare Dungeons, find the rupture, and close 15 tiers to open a Deathtoll Chamber; a friend or two roughly halves the time.

STEP 3/4

Hell Tide cultist rupture

Hunt the large orange rupture with a cultist in the middle — clearing it also opens a Deathtoll Chamber while paying out cinders and inviting Butcher ambushes.

STEP 4/4

Bank every key

Each high-Torment Deathtoll Chamber guarantees at least one Superior Lair Key, so keep looping and let them stack.

How to spend Superior Lair Keys for Mythics

With keys stacking, the payoff is the Nemesis Lair loop. Under Activities → Lair Bosses, go straight through the middle instead of the outer options. Clearing a normal Lair Boss and opening its Horde Chest can open a Nemesis Lair with more bosses; clearing those can open a Greater Nemesis Lair; and clearing that spawns a Call of Evil, which costs three Superior Lair Keys and opens the way to an Ultimate Nemesis Lair. The bosses there are brutal, but the loot is enormous and players were already pulling Mythics out of it — now with an effectively unlimited key supply, you can run it over and over.

The other big sink is the Corrupted Reaper, the new seasonal Lair boss at the entrance to the Pandemonium Threshold in Zarbinzet. Once you’ve pushed the seasonal questline far enough, you can fight it repeatedly, and it drops up to two Pandemonium Fragments scaling with your Torment level. The real prize is opening its Hoard, which is your focused source of Uniques, Charms, and Mythics. If you’re chasing perfect greater-affix rolls on a specific Unique instead, dump spare keys into the Palace of the Deceiver and farm that kill on repeat.

Set up your War Plan before farming

Before you start the key grind, spend the respec. In your Hell Tide activity tree, take Night Terrors together with Meat Brothers. Night Terrors lets you get ambushed by Hellborn inside Nightmare Dungeons; Meat Brothers replaces those Hellborn with two Butchers. The Butchers hand you a massive chunk of XP plus Profane Mind Cages, which makes the exact same rupture farm far more profitable. Because so much of Season 14’s loop runs through Nightmare Dungeons and Hell Tides anyway, this turns every ambush into a bonus instead of an interruption.

Stocking normal and greater Lair Keys

The Nemesis loop still eats normal and greater Lair Keys to get started, and the fastest source is Hell Tides. Run one with the blood-rot node and Bursting Brood — the Pangs of Duriel that spawn from the Hellmouth invasion drop normal and greater Lair Keys constantly. The bartering vendor also carries a summoning cache that pays out normal and greater Lair Keys, and by this point you’ll usually have a pile of Pale Marks sitting around to spend on it. Keep a small buffer of these so a good Superior Lair Key stockpile never goes to waste waiting on the cheaper keys.

TOP TIP

Only run Deathtoll Chambers at high Torment — the guaranteed Superior Lair Key is tied to high Torment levels, so lower difficulties throw away the entire point of the farm.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the fastest way to get Superior Lair Keys in Season 14?
Clear Deathtoll Chambers at high Torment — each one guarantees at least one Superior Lair Key. The quickest opener is the Realmwalker roughly every 20 minutes; fill the gaps by closing 15 rupture tiers in Nightmare Dungeons to open more chambers.
Where is the Corrupted Reaper?
It’s at the entrance to the Pandemonium Threshold in Zarbinzet. After you’ve progressed the seasonal questline, you can fight it repeatedly, and the key reward is opening its Hoard for Uniques, Charms, and Mythics.
How many Pandemonium Fragments does a Horadric Cube Mythic cost now?
Four. It dropped from five, and Glints of Hope reputation caches now hand out Pandemonium Fragments every time, so you’ll craft Mythics noticeably faster.
Can you upgrade a Mythic into another Mythic?
No. A Mythic Unique can’t be used as the input item in the “Upgrade to Mythic” recipe, so plan your Fragment spending around fresh crafts and boss drops instead.
Can Lair bosses drop Mythics now?
Yes. The bug that blocked some sources — Lair bosses included — from dropping their Uniques as Mythics was fixed, so you can target-farm a specific Lair boss and have its Unique come out as a Mythic.
More questions
Where do normal and greater Lair Keys come from?
Hell Tides with the rot node and Bursting Brood drop them constantly via the Pangs of Duriel, and the bartering vendor’s summoning cache pays out more if you spend your Pale Marks on it.
What happened to the resource caps?
They shot up. Obols now cap at 25,000, gold at 999 billion, and gems at 999 million, so there’s far less reason to stop mid-farm and dump currency.
