Gourmand unlocks when you obtain every book on both cooking and crops. Clear every book source: merchants, recipe pickups, strongboxes, interiors, and Kagura’s Cooking and Grow Research menus.
The Gourmand trophy in Beast of Reincarnation is a collection check tied to cooking books and crop books. Sweep merchants and exploration spaces, then use Kagura at the base to process what you have found.
Run this as a book-source route: clear every place books appear, buy every relevant merchant manual, and keep returning to Kagura until the trophy pops.

Route for collecting every Gourmand book
Unlock Kagura first

Continue the main story until Kagura wakes up and the base menus become available.

Process any cooking manuals you already picked up before starting the wider cleanup.
Check Grow Research

Process crop books there so you can separate book progress from seedlings and ingredients.
Revisit earlier regions

Return to areas you cleared before Kagura woke up and search them again for books, recipes, strongboxes, and buildings.
Buy out relevant merchant stock

At every merchant, purchase all cooking manuals, recipe items, and crop-related books before spending amber elsewhere.
Open strongboxes during the sweep

Strongboxes are part of the Gourmand route because cooking books can be found through exploration.
Search abandoned buildings

Look inside every building space instead of only following the main path through a zone.
Repeat the loop in each new region

Clear the merchant inventory, exploration pickups, strongboxes, and buildings before leaving the region behind.
Return to Kagura often

After each major sweep, process new books in Cooking and Grow Research.
Keep going until Gourmand unlocks

If the trophy does not pop, you are missing an unbought merchant manual or an unopened exploration pickup.
Buy every manual a merchant sells before leaving the area, then immediately check Kagura’s Cooking and Grow Research menus so you can spot whether your cleanup is still missing books.
Ancient Civilization recipe and manual notes
| Find | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Early recipe | Near the first marked interior section after loading into Ancient Civilization. |
| Later recipe | In the room behind the fire after riding the lift up through the rubble route. |
| Five manuals | Sold by the northern merchant near the final campsite. |
| Wheat and lettuce | Sold by the same northern merchant during the purchase sweep. |
| Recipe items and bread | Sold by the northern merchant alongside the manuals. |
| Nearby non-Gourmand collectibles | Potato seedling, tomato crop seedling, shrines, campsites, Keeper Golems, elite Malefacts, a document, artwork, a weapon, a skill, and a weapon purchase are separate cleanup items. |
Ancient Civilization has the cleanest book route. Early in the zone, grab the recipe pickup near the starting route, then take the lift upward later and collect the recipe in the room behind the fire.
The northern merchant is the major cleanup point in this area. Bring at least 24,000 amber before buying out the relevant stock, because the sweep includes wheat, lettuce, five manuals, recipe items, bread, the destructive fang skill, and the purity weapon.
Do not mix the last row into your Gourmand count. Those nearby collectibles are worth grabbing while you are already there, but seedlings, shrines, Keeper Golems, weapons, documents, and artwork are not the same thing as cooking or crop books.
Gourmand mistakes to avoid

The most common mistake is treating ingredients as books. Ingredients can be bought, grown, or produced through the broader base loop, but Gourmand is not asking for a pantry checklist.
Seedlings cause similar confusion. They go into the Grow Chamber and support crop production, while crop books are the items that feed into Grow Research.
Cooking sits beside the trophy route, but it is not the route itself. You need the manuals and recipe books for Gourmand; cooking every meal is a separate habit that helps you play better, but it is not the trophy’s stated condition.
Cleanup targets near the Gourmand route
A Gourmand run overlaps naturally with other collectible work, so clear seedlings, plantable crops, arrow or bolt manuals, camps, shrines, documents, and lore paintings while you are already checking merchants, interiors, and side paths.
In large areas like Ancient Civilization, the same sweep covers recipe pickups, merchant manuals, campsites, shrines, documents, artwork, enemies, and equipment purchases without forcing another full return trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need to cook every recipe for Gourmand?
No. Gourmand asks you to obtain every book on both cooking and crops, so cooking meals is not the direct unlock condition.
Do seedlings count as crop books?
No. Seedlings are planted for crop production, while crop books are used through Kagura’s Grow Research.
Why did Gourmand not unlock after buying merchant items?
You are missing a book from exploration. Check strongboxes, abandoned buildings, earlier regions, and any merchant you visited before you started buying every manual.
