The Garb of Tranquility is found in Chapter 2’s Ancient Civilization Zone, inside a Strongbox hidden in a large rusty pipe on the right side of the path from the Ruins Slope campsite toward Nushi’s Lair.
Garb of Tranquility is a single hidden armor pickup, not a boss drop or quest reward. It is worth grabbing before you push too far through Chapter 2 because its acid resistance and stealth effect fit the Ancient Civilization Zone extremely well.
Garb of Tranquility location and reward
| Detail | Answer |
|---|---|
| Chapter | Chapter 2 |
| Zone | Ancient Civilization Zone |
| Nearest campsite | Ruins Slope |
| Route landmark | Large rusty iron pipe on the right side of the path toward Nushi’s Lair |
| Container | Strongbox |
| Reward | Garb of Tranquility |
| Main use | Acid-heavy areas and stealth play |
The chest is tucked off the main route, so the important move is to watch the right-hand side as you move toward Nushi’s Lair. Once you spot the large rusty pipe in the mountainside, go inside and open the Strongbox at the end.

Pipe landmarks that are easy to miss
The easiest way to lose this armor is to stay in the middle of the road and keep pushing toward Nushi’s Lair. Instead, hug the right wall after the red-lit staircase on the northeast path and scan the mountainside for a rusty drainage pipe.

The pipe does not look like a normal treasure-room entrance at first glance. It blends into the surrounding metal and rock, and the path itself encourages you to keep moving forward rather than checking the side wall.
If you are close enough, Koo can sense the Strongbox, which gives you one more cue that you are near the right spot. Treat that reaction as a prompt to slow down and check the pipe interior instead of running past it.
After the red-lit stairs, stay glued to the right-hand wall until you see the rusty pipe set into the mountainside.
Garb of Tranquility stats and best uses
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Defense | 23 |
| Acid Resistance | 60 |
| Spirit Stone Slots | 4 |
| Special effect | Enemy Awareness: Nonexistent |
Garb of Tranquility is built for players who want to move quietly through dangerous Chapter 2 spaces while taking less acid damage. Its Enemy Awareness: Nonexistent effect is the standout trait, giving it a clear identity as stealth armor rather than just another defensive torso piece.
KEY!
It has fewer Spirit Stone Slots than Light Gambeson, but the tradeoff is strong when you are dealing with acid-heavy encounters or want enemies to notice Emma less easily. A Lightning-related modifier has appeared in early armor listings, but the wording is inconsistent, so the reliable launch values to plan around are the stats above.
The Garb of Tranquility is easy to overlook, but it is not framed as a one-time event reward. If you missed the pipe while moving through Chapter 2, backtrack through the Ancient Civilization Zone while the area is still accessible and check the right-side route toward Nushi’s Lair.
Early armor choices near Chapter 2

If you are comparing early armor instead of just collecting this piece, also look at Light Gambeson, Chain Mail, Thick Cuirass, and Insulating Mail. Garb of Tranquility stands out when you specifically need Acid Resistance and lower enemy awareness, so it fits stealth and Ancient Civilization Zone routing better than a simple slot-count comparison suggests.
