AT&T Galaxy S8 Active update brings fix for BlueBorne and KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerabilities

The AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is receiving a new software update right now. The update includes bug fixes, patches certain vulnerabilities, and installs a newer Android security patch.

You will find the update available as an OTA carrying the build number G892AUCS1AQJ2. If you’ve received this update, then we suggest you install it as soon as possible. According to the change-log, the update includes the BlueBorne fix and also patches the KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerability. It also installs the September Android security patch.

The update weighs around 77MB, and is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Before you install the update, make sure your device is fully charged, and connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.

The Galaxy S8 Active is a tougher variant of the Galaxy S8 and is currently only available from AT&T. However, recent leaks have suggested that a Sprint variant may be available soon. There might even be an unlocked version of the phone.

Samsung is currently beta testing the Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, having recently released the third beta. The Galaxy S8 Active will most likely also get the Android Oreo upgrade, but only next year.
