The Asus ZenWatch 2 in China has started receiving a new firmware upgrade which bumps the second generation Android Wear smartwatch to Emerald LE_MR1 (M2F39) version. The Android Wear OS version of the update is 1.4.0.3452475, based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
The update brings with a few minor improvements like optimisation of sleep detection. It also fixes a few problems with display panel and enhances system stability. Further, it adds support for pairing iOS devices.
If you own a ZenWatch 2, you will receive the update that will bring these aforementioned features. If not, you can check for the same by swiping down the watch face to go to Settings -> Go to About -> System Updates.
While the above update is all good, the ZenWatch 2 Android Wear 2.0 update is what that will be far more exciting. The Android Wear 2.0 OS release is rumored for February 9, while it could take Asus another 2-3 months to bring it as an OTA to ZenWatch 2.
