While the rollout of Android 8.0 Oreo by the big names in the industry like Samsung and LG has been sluggish, other mid-carders have been quite swift with it. The Taiwanese tech giant ASUS was one of the earliest adopters of the Oreo update when it released the major Android version for the ZenFone 3 series back in January — even though it lags behind the like of Nokia and OnePlus.

While some variants of the ASUS ZenFone 3 series were lucky enough to be updated early, variants such as the ZenFone 3 Laser and ZenFone 3 Zoom are still awaiting the goodness of Oreo. After multiple inquiries over the highly anticipated update, ASUS Malaysia responded with the news of a longer wait for the ZenFone 3 Laser (ZC551KL) and the ZenFone 3 Zoom (ZE553KL) Oreo update.

Citing “certain issues that need to be fixed” before the Oreo update can be rolled out publicly, ASUS Malaysia has set the timeline for the update for the end of June. While it may not be ideal that you have to wait almost a year after the initial release of the Android 8.0 Oreo update to get it on your ZenFone 3 variants, some assurance from the Android OEM is always welcomed.
