When Asus gave us ZenFone 4 few months ago, it did so with an aplomb. They gave us a choice between as many as six ZenFone 4 handsets, each packing in different hardware of course as their name suggested, but strangely enough, different software too — while regular ZenFone 4 and 4 Pro ran Android 7.1.1 underneath, the Selfie and Max editions were powered by Android 7.0 update.
Now, we have some good news for the users of Selfie and Max variants of ZenFone 4. We just Android 7.1.1 for these four handsets: ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, ZenFone 4 Max, and ZenFone 4 Max Pro. Does that mean Android 7.1.1 OTA is all set for release for these four handsets? Well, we think so.
We spotted them running Android 7.1.1 on Geekbench, and you can check out the listings here:
- Asus ZD552KL (ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro)
- Asus ZB553KL (ZenFone 4 Selfie)
- Asus ZC554KL (ZenFone 4 Max and Max Pro)
While the 7.1.1 is an upgrade over 7.0 that we would surely welcome, what would be more exciting find would be Asus Oreo for ZenFone 4 sets.
Asus has indeed officially confirmed that they plan to release the Android 8.0 update for all devices in ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 3 series. However the company hasn’t come up with target release date, something which is available to us only with HTC Oreo update plans.
