About a month ago, Archos had announced a couple of upcoming tablets, including a 13.3″ Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich based tablet which was dubbed as the Archos Familypad. Initial reports suggested a 13″ display, a 1GHz Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex A8 processor, Mali 400 GPU, 1GB RAM, 2 megapixel cameras on the front and back, 8GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot, two USB ports and one mini HDMI port.

Earlier today, Archos has confirmed the entry of the Familypad, as part of its Arnova lineup. The Archos Arnova is a 13.3″  tablet (pretty large for a tablet, unless it’s also meant to use Win8, don’t you think?), which packs a 1280 x 800 resolution LCD display, along with all of the specs that were rumored earlier. Archos seems to have also made room to include a Mini HDMI out port.

At 1.3 Kgs, it would seem that the Archos Arnova Familypad weighs as much as a decent ultrabook, but then it IS a family device, right? It comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on board, a bunch of pre-installed games which the whole family can enjoy, and a nifty tablet specific slideshow opton which makes your image gallery take on a new life of its own. Also included, is a shared calendar which the whole family can use. Nice touch, given the name.

The Archos Arnova Familypad will be available for purchase starting late November 2012, and is expected to be priced at around  €200. Would you want to get one for your family?
