You don’t need to clear any quests before redeeming a code, though getting past the intro tutorial is worth doing anyway since it unlocks the Shop menu you’ll need.
You’ll know a code worked when the Gems, Rerolls, or Boosts tied to it show up in your inventory right away. If nothing changes after you hit Redeem, recheck the spelling against the list above, since one stray character or extra space is enough to block it.
