Google has started to roll out the Android Wear Oreo update for supported Wear smartwatches. Although, the arrival of the update is based on the manufacturer of the Watch.
According to Hoi Lam, the Wearables Developer Advocate at Google, the Oreo update is currently rolling out. In a post on Google+, he included the change-log for the new update. A lot of users have been waiting for the Wear Oreo update. It was in October that Google started a Android Wear Oreo beta program for the LG Watch Sport.
In the new Android Wear Oreo update, users will find a new setting for the Notification vibration strength, and a Touch lock for when you’re using the watch while swimming or while it’s raining. With Android Wear Oreo, you also get support for 5 new languages and 7 countries.
Apart from that, the update also brings some other features such as improved battery saving, Background limits, notification channels, and UI changes for the Settings app.
As mentioned at the start, the updates will arrive as soon as the Watch manufacturer gives it a green light. Currently, users of the LG Watch Sport have started to receive the update as version 2.6.0. Let us know if you’ve received the update on your Android Wear smartwatch.
