Android Pie update for Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus in the U.S. begins rolling out

Galaxy S9 beta 3

The global variants of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ started receiving Android 9 Pie over a month ago, but we all knew the wait for the OS to arrive on carrier variants in the U.S. was always going to take some time.

Well, it appears that this wait is over now that we have just spotted an Android Pie firmware targeting the U.S. market. The update carries software version G960USQU3CSAB for the S9 and G965USQU3CSAB for the S9+.

So far, the available updates are meant for Comcast-branded variants of the S9 and S9+ and besides Pie, you also get a new Android security patch for January 2019 alongside the rebranded Samsung One UI.

Being an OTA update, it will take some time before all Xfinity-branded S9 and S9+ units receive the download notification, so be patient. You may also try rushing the update via the Settings menu of your device, although we cannot guarantee you’ll find a ready download.

As for the other U.S. carriers, the fact that there is a ready firmware for the region means that it’s only a matter of time before the likes of Verizon Wireless, AT&T and T-Mobile begin rolling out Pie to the S9 and S9+.
